Ready-to-Wear Formalwear ARRIVES AT HUNTSMAN

One of the most anticipated events of the English season, Royal Ascot is as much about the sartorial spectacle as it is about horse racing. One of the most anticipated events of the English season, Royal Ascot is as much about the sartorial spectacle as it is about horse racing. From the famed “Ascot Gavotte” scene in “My Fair Lady,” to the sightings of elegantly dressed royals – the Queen’s royal procession opens the event each day - this five-day race meeting held in Windsor, Berkshire holds a cherished place in Britain’s cultural history. Indeed, it’s been a highpoint of the summer since 1711, when Queen Anne picked out Ascot’s turf as a perfect racecourse, a plot she deemed “ideal for horses to gallop at full stretch.” And racegoers have long turned to Huntsman to outfit them in stylish morning dress for the event, with the formal coat, waistcoat, trousers, and top hat a requisite for men watching the races from Ascot’s Royal Enclosure. Among Huntsman’s illustrious racing world clients is John Warren of Highclere Stud, who oversees the Queen’s interests in horse racing and breeding, and racing tipster Tom Segal. And actor Gregory Peck, an aficionado of Huntsman’s bespoke service, naturally turned to the house’s tailors to fashion his morning coat in a grey “pick and pick” fabric, when he visited Ascot with fellow actor David Niven in 1960. Today, Huntsman unveils the launch of its new season ready-to-wear formalwear, ahead of Royal Ascot’s June 14 opening. It bears all the hallmarks of Huntsman’s house style, with the coat’s slim cut and flattering, waisted silhouette.  And for Ascot’s less formal Queen Anne enclosure, there’s Huntsman’s Spring/Summer ’16 ready-to-wear collection, which spotlights suiting in grey fresco wools or black and white puppy tooth, along with sports coats in breezy blue or cream linen. Our Bay Filly ‘Fastnet Rock ex Ho High The Moon’ (GB), trained by Charlie Hills Added to the house’s formal wear launch, Huntsman has also entered into the horse racing world by buying a share in two racehorses, together with members’ club 5 Hertford Street and Highclere Stud, where John Warren Bloodstock breeds the Queen’s racehorses. While not competing this year, the two fillies are expected to come to form in time for next year’s Royal Ascot. But Huntsman will be very much present at this year’s race meeting, and is commandeering the Rosebery Bus - a handsome, converted London Routemaster bus - where it will hold a private party overlooking Ascot racecourse. No matter if Ascot’s your destination of choice this summer, or if you’re dressing instead for a quintessentially English country wedding or garden party, Huntsman has your sartorial needs covered. Don’t forget to look out for our new season formalwear ready-to-wear, available online and in store from Monday 16th May.
