What is bespoke tailoring?
Bespoke tailoring is the finest handcrafted clothes that money can buy, and that a person can make. Bespoke tailoring creates garments that fit and feel as comfortable as a second skin, because they are made to your exact measurements and specifications.
It’s an art form that begins with up to 28 measurements to create a 2D rendering of your body, as a paper pattern. Up to 80 hours of handwork by the most skilled team of cutters and tailors on Savile Row are woven into the soul of every one of our tailored garments. From measuring and drafting your paper pattern, to hand stitching and finishing details, no two bodies are the same, and so no two bespoke suits, shirts, or separates are the same.
At Huntsman, we offer a comprehensive range of bespoke services, including bespoke shirting, bespoke ladieswear, tweed creation and bespoke slippers as well as two distinct bespoke tailoring services: Bespoke 1849, and Huntsman Bespoke. Bespoke 1849 is our signature service, unchanged for over 170 years. The entire bespoke process takes place within the walls of 11 Savile Row. Huntsman Bespoke is a new service that offers the same prestige and luxury of a bespoke suit, at a price point competitive with its made-to-measure counterparts.
Do you sell made to measure suits?
The heart of Huntsman is bespoke. For this reason, we do not offer a made-to-measure service. Instead, we offer two distinct bespoke services. Bespoke 1849, and Huntsman Bespoke. Huntsman bespoke is a new service, that offers the same prestige and luxury of a bespoke suit, at a price point competitive with its made-to-measure counterparts. It’s a better service, better fit and at a price that can match a made-to-measure suit.
Ladies bespoke is currently only available as a Bespoke 1849 service.
Huntsman also offers a ready-to-wear and made-to-order service to compliment our bespoke tailoring.
How much does your bespoke tailoring cost?
Huntsman offers a comprehensive range of bespoke services. Pricing for your bespoke order will depend on several factors, all of which your client manager will discuss with you at your first appointment, including your choice of cloth, style details, finishing and customisation.
A two-piece bespoke suit from our Bespoke 1849 service starts from £6,500
A two-piece bespoke suit from our Huntsman Bespoke service starts from £4,200
Huntsman bespoke shirts start at £380 with a minimum order of three shirts.
Huntsman ladies bespoke starts from £6,500 for a two-piece suit.
Do you make women’s clothing?
Yes! Huntsman is proud to boast our own dedicated Ladieswear Cutter and team dedicated to making bespoke ladieswear.
Where is your clothing made?
All Huntsman Bespoke 1849 garments are made in store at 11 Savile Row. From your first fit, through to drafting your pattern, cutting your cloth and making, pressing and finishing your garment all take place in our workshops, unchanged since 1849.
Huntsman Bespoke garments are drafted, cut, pressed and finished in our workshops at 11 Savile Row, however some sewing and making is done off-site, by a Huntsman trained and certified partner atelier. In doing this, we can deliver a bespoke suit at a competitive price, without compromising on quality.
Huntsman garments ordered on one of our international Trunk Shows will be cut at either 11 Savile Row, or Huntsman on W57th Street, New York, depending on your region.
All Huntsman ready-to-wear and made-to-order garments are produced in Portugal.
How long does it take to make a bespoke suit?
Each bespoke commission takes over 80 hours of handwork, and requires up to three individual fittings. The delivery of your suit will depend on your availability for fittings, and could be subject to time fluctuations pending demand, however we aim to deliver your suit within 14-16 weeks from your first appointment.
Do I have to make an appointment?
Huntsman, 11 Savile Row is open from Monday - Friday 9 am - 5.30 pm and Saturday 10 am - 3 pm, and whilst we always welcome walk-in customers, we advise making an appointment for our bespoke services ahead of your visit, to ensure we can properly assist you.
All of our Trunk Show visits are by appointment only, so we please ask that you make a trunk show appointment ahead of our arrival.
Huntsman on W.57TH is by appointment only. You can make an appointment for Huntsman on W57TH here.
How many fittings will I need?
This depends on whether you're a new or existing customer and the nature of your garment.
For new customers, we recommend two to three fittings before your garment is finished and handed over to you.
Once you have an established pattern with us and have been assigned a Cutter it may be possible to place further orders without as many fittings.
Are future alterations included in the price of my bespoke suit?
At Huntsman we believe passionately in the quality and longevity of our bespoke tailoring; so much so that you won’t leave the shop until you and we are totally satisfied with your bespoke garment. However, we appreciate that with wear and the rigours of life, some alterations may be necessary.
We’re happy to honour minor alterations caused by due wear. Alterations pertaining to the size, shape and design of your garment after it has left the shop may be subject to additional costs.
Clients who have inherited a Huntsman garment from a former Huntsman client or relative can speak to us about our Inherited Garment Service.
Will you tailor my non-Huntsman garments?
We will not provide tailoring and alteration services to any garments that are not made by Huntsman.
Can I buy fabric directly from you?
As a bespoke tailoring house, we are pleased to offer clients an extensive range of luxury cloths, including several Huntsman exclusive house cloths. These are only available as a bespoke garment commission. We will not sell full bolts or cut lengths directly.
Clients purchasing our tweed experience will be able to design and create their own bolt of cloth in either a 30M or 60M run. This cloth belongs to the client, but can be stored at Huntsman for future commissions.
Can I visit the Kingsman Room?
Huntsman is the home of, and inspiration for Matthew Vaughn’s blockbuster spy-capers Kingsman: The Secret Service, Kingsman: The Golden Circle and The King’s Man. Today we still welcome film enthusiasts around the world to 11 Savile Row.
The Kingsman Room is still a working fitting room, and so kindly ask that if you are visiting the Kingsman Room, to display courtesy to other Huntsman patrons. As a workspace and shop we must always prioritise the comfort, safety and privacy of our clients, which is why we cannot allow any tour groups, organised parties or groups larger than 4 people into the shop at one time to visit the Kingsman Room.
Huntsman reserves the right to deny filming and photography of the Kingsman Room and shop.
Can I return my bespoke garment?
Bespoke tailoring is designed to meet your every specification. We won't let your garment leave our workshops until you are totally satisfied with it. For this reason we cannot accept refunds or exchange for goods or credit on bespoke garments.
Can you make specialist garments?
We are proud to say that the Huntsman team can make anything, including military regalia, service uniforms, ceremonial dress and special commissions.
How is bespoke tailoring inherently sustainable?
Because bespoke clothing is created by commission to meet the specifications of the individual, it avoids the need for over-production and wastage. Bespoke tailoring really is an antithesis to fast fashion.
What's more, bespoke tailoring is designed to last. If cared for your bespoke clothing is of a quality that can last you a lifetime- and even longer.
Huntsman is passionate about using cloth from British mills, and cloth with an environmentally-conscious footprint.
