This year, a design by Tony Waters, the runner-up in our 2023 Tweed Competition, takes centre stage, transforming an idea originally conceived for tweed into a refined and luxurious summer linen.
From Sydney Harbour to Savile Row
Tony Waters found his inspiration in Sydney Harbour, a backdrop he regularly experiences on his morning jogs. The dynamic contrast of Sydney’s iconic architecture, shimmering waters, and sunlit sandstone cliffs provided the perfect foundation for an innovative take on classic tweed. His design captures the vibrant blues of the ocean, the warm golden tones of sun-kissed rock, and the lush greens of the Australian coastline. From the moment we saw his concept, it was clear that this wasn’t a cloth destined for traditional tweed. Instead, its light, fresh aesthetic made it the perfect choice for summer tailoring - reimagined in linen rather than wool.
Craftsmanship Meets Innovation: The Exclusive Maison Hellard Linen
To bring this concept to life, we collaborated with Maison Hellard, a name synonymous with excellence in linen weaving. This exclusive fabric is made from raw Normandy flax, renowned for its superior quality and breathability, and woven in Italy to create an elegant and effortlessly wearable cloth. The result is a textile that feels as soft as sophisticated, ensuring a luxurious drape and an air of nonchalant refinement. This linen isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about evoking an experience.
