Huntsman has served as the direct inspiration for the Kingsman movie trilogy. Director Matthew Vaughn first conceived the idea of a spy organisation within the walls of our Savile Row tailoring shop during a fitting at Huntsman. Vaughn, a long-standing client, was initially introduced to Huntsman by his mother at age eighteen for his first bespoke suit, and from there, his idea for an elite group of impeccably dressed spies took root.
The connection between Huntsman and the Kingsman movies goes beyond mere inspiration. The actual Huntsman shop at 11 Savile Row was used as the facade for the fictional Kingsman spy headquarters. Viewers of the film will recognise the shop's distinctive features, including its iconic stag heads, wood-panelled fitting room, and characteristic three-way mirror. To celebrate the film’s release, Huntsman even redecorated our second fitting room to match the movie's aesthetic, allowing customers to feel like a "Kingsman" while being fitted. Today, the Kingsman fitting room remains a much-loved feature of clients and visitors alike. The movies have also had a significant positive impact on Huntsman and Savile Row. According to Campbell Carey, Huntsman's Creative Director, the films helped spark a resurgence of interest in British tailoring among an entirely new demographic. Younger clients from around the world bring new customers to traditional tailoring.
