Where Santa Gets His Suit Made

When our friends at The Peninsula Hotel approached us with a request from a very special guest, we were delighted to oblige. After all, it’s not every day that you get the chance to outfit old St. Nick.

Huntsman has long held a reputation for outfitting the most sartorially discerning gentlemen. Over the course of our 175 years, we have tailored suits to every imaginable specification: suits for heads of state, celebrities, boiler suits, diving suits, and even suits with secret compartments. Yet, until recently, there was one festive figure we’d always hoped to dress: A suit for Santa Claus. When our friends at The Peninsula Hotel approached us with a request from a very special guest, we were delighted to oblige. After all, it’s not every day that you get the chance to outfit old St. Nick.

For a special Christmas campaign, Father Christmas himself is taking up residence at The Peninsula Hotel, delivering gifts with a little help from the skilful Peninsula Pages, and for his stay in London, he required a truly bespoke Santa suit.
In designing his suit, the Huntsman team carefully considered every detail to ensure it met the demands of his unique role—providing warmth, comfort, durability, and, of course, style. After all, there is arguably no suit more iconic than Santa’s. Whilst nowadays Santa is most often recognised in red, his original suit was always green- And for this special commission, we decided to embrace tradition, creating an exquisite velvet suit, in the iconic Peninsula green.

Hopefully, the efforts of the Huntsman team have earned us all a place on his ‘Good list’ this year. How he keeps that sumptuous faux-fur trim clean from coal dust, he’ll never say! You can see the magic for yourself when Father Christmas arrives at The Peninsula Hotel—watch his grand arrival via this link.

If you’re in London, don’t miss the opportunity to view Santa’s stunning new suit on display at Huntsman from the 27th of November.
